Jai Ho : Power puff common man

jai-ho-Buddhu box5

Once upon time some one told me don’t go to watch a typical Bollywood movie with your analytical brains. SO with courage I tried to take my child like brain  in to hall and clap on every roar of Salman Khan and even when he crunches bones  and flinging bodies .But finally ended up in laughter on the weak linkages of story
Pay it forwardThe moment he said he wants to start a goodwill chain . But he is no ordinary do-gooder. He doesn’t take a mere ‘thank you for a response. He exhorts the grateful beneficiaries of his acts of bravery to keep the spirit going by helping three other people each. Does that rings bell . Yes this concept is exact copy of an classic English movie “Pay it forward”. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0223897/ I thought might be the copyright of the movie would have expired so they were free to pick up the concept. Well if he would have thought of two arms Do you still remember how the chain marketing people proceed on the way .I don’t know people will start the chain of good deed after this movie or not but definitely children will learn biting as best defensive mechanism after all salman uncle does it quite often in the movie.

jai-ho-Buddhu box 2Don’t underestimate the power of a common man ..after sharukh from Chennai express its salman in jay ho endorsing aam admi party 😛 .  You will come to know why Salman Says “sujuki hayate yu hi nahi chalate “ for his bike stunts …. Copy copy amir khan ki copy.re many super hero common man moments but the cherry on top is Sunil Shetty coming with his army tankor on road to save salman almost when fight is over and still salman goes in autorikshaw of Mahesh manjrekar. All police cases in any area go through Aditya pancholi only. In short there are many moments in the movie where you will shout aloud and say SERIOUSLY DUDE 😉 .

On a tangential node I feel this movie is made to glorify salman’s image and tell him what a great human being he is .

jai-ho-Buddhu box 1

Jai Ho is a virtual parade of actors whose movie careers are in desperate need of assistance – Ashmit Patel, Yash Tonk, Mohnish Behl, Nauheed Cyrusi, Tulip Joshi, Bruna Abdullah, Sana Khan, Aditya Pancholi, Sharad Kapoor, Varun Badola, Santosh Shukla and the like. Each of them gets his or her few flashes of fame in the film. But eventually none of them rises above the din to be seen and heard.

Wolf of Wall Street

bb_the_wolf_of_wall_street-poster-4The wolf of Wall Street where on one hand inspires me to write the movie review on other front has made me more reluctant to invest in stocks and especially on brokers advice.

The movie The Wolf of Wall street is based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, from his American dream to corporate greed of a wealthy stockbroker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government. Best part of it is that he sets himself up again with the changing market.

Money, drugs, sex and power all.. at the expense of someone else’s loss. Sounds familiar? You must have met at least a few Wolf type people who are the raging lunatics obsessed with greed ,deception, yet they pose heroic or spiritual guru person in front of public. Exactly that’s the character of the fine actor Leonardo Di Caprio .

BB_The Wolf of Wall Street 6--621x414

The material riches acquired by the Wolf Leonardo DiCaprio are dishonestly acquired by scamming the public out of their hard-earned cash through a penny stock “pump and dump” operation. In this way, the Wolf of Wall Street reflects the reality of a society where everybody seems to be trying to scam everybody else out of their money.

The beauty of this movie is that the impact of Wolf’s deeds on his victims is left out and out for the audience to judge and evaluate.

BB_margot-robbieElsewhere Robbie is hypnotic as Belfort’s affair-turned-wife. It’s refreshing to see someone in such a film not playing a weak woman who cow-tows to her husband’s demands, she’s actually one of the strongest characters. For that matter even his first wife’s role was of strong women. And this makes me say had it been a typically Indian movie then the lead character would have returned back to the first wife in end . 😛

To the views there will be there’s a certain enjoyment we get from watching him rise up the ladder before the almighty fall. The entire 2.45 minutes biopic will not let you leave the theatre without any lesson of life. Though all lessons might not be healthy takeaways for you.

ABCD Any Body Can Dance is the best gift to Dancers in India

For me ABCD is a movie which is full paisa vasool movie. To let the fate of a film hang on the talent of just dance alone takes humungous belief in self. Truly, impossible is nothing… if you dare to dream. Remo Sir… THIS IS IT!

Yes I can go and watch it again for the quality for the dance for the respect I have for their work in the movie .
ABCD buddhu box 5Every time I used to see the step-up series and others like I used to envy them and think why the hell we don’t have a movie on dance where we have so many unique dance forms of our own.

At last director Remo D’Souza’s heard my voice and made one though it still doesn’t captures the Indian dance versions but never mind it is a pure treat to eyes and heart. You may start tapping your feet with the rhythms.

Though a  little predictable and not very unique concept but still it has all in it emotion action drama, dhamal and good turning bad, bad evolving as good, love, nationality and more important than any of the above this movie has DANCE in it . Dance in its purest form.

This movie was dedicated to dance and had dance in it. This movie don’t has dance as part of it it has story as a part of dance. In about 143 minutes, ABCD tries to catch the emotions, aspirations, rebellions and values the contemporary Indian youth so cherishes

One of my highest disappointment was the movie NAACH by ram gopal verma

ABCD buddhu box 2

I really felt prabhudeva with his endearing accent (Mohanlal-like Hindi) enhances the authenticity of the character – he is a man who left Chennai 15 years ago to pursue his dreams in Mumbai. I have to confess I fell in love with his character and DANCE .

Ya another treat to eyes were the acting of the choreographers. The young cast, all dancers, display such seasoned emotion in the execution of their roles that one can easily say Any Body Can Act. And that is a huge compliment for this hitherto unknown bunch of dancer/actors who set the stage on fire… literally! They all did a fabulous job . It’s a tough job to put so many talented people at one place and give everyone their space role dance to act on and justify it. SO I give 9 on 10 to this movie in all these aspects.

The choreography of every dance sequence is breathtaking and Remo has had the unenviable task of looping in a story within dances. Not a flaw in the script, as the story moves on from frame ‘one’, to the spectacular finale.

ABCD buddhu box 1
Hang on; there is a flaw, and a huge one at that. A team has to change props and their performance at the last minute. However, within 10 minutes they are ready with a track. They could have managed it with either incrising the time limit or adding another scene in it But you are willing to let go of this cinematic liberty as the film climaxes.

So Don’t miss to watch this one and admire the new bandwagon of actors who are the best dancers .

(There are so many in our bolly wood who don’t know either and still exist as parasites )

Iam already waiting for the sequel.3D or no 3D make a sequel soon 🙂

Race 2

This the comic revenge (badla) story of Saifu after all not every one dares to make a sequel with  same set of all hero and Race-2 Saif-Ali-Khan Car Buddhuboxheroines so Bips had to Go .so all what is left are few gorgeous looking ladies with Tanishque jewelers and power puff John abraham

A lil has left to do for Anil Kapoor but that still brings some fruity double meaning jokes and Amisha Patel has almost lost her existence in the movie.

race-2 Car Buddhubox 1Loads of tempting cars and lovely cinematography with some admiring locations of Istanbul story is still not much convincing almost seems as picked up from some super commander dhruv etc . They talk about millions of cash as if discussing some chocolates to be distributed among children. Everyone knows what the other one is planning so I guess they want to tell you people are already predictable

In entire movie I kept waiting for some dazzling dialogues which will make me clap but need less to tell I was disappointed .

Ok some of the twists in movie make you feel ahh that’s the one while rest are kind of predictable so maybe I was there with higher expectations and the climax was fully FUSSSS

If I compare I miss the Quality of songs in Race 1 some jaw dropping twists But still you can watch this movie if you believe that a good company can make any movie work . In short it’s a no brainer movie with the only one man performing in movie “Saif Ali Khan” rest no one has got space to act and show their traits.

On the second thought what could have made this movie better a lil bit of more bonding mystery between the bro and sis duo.

Lil bit of more than money driven people with some tangential purpose and twists

Or may be a little bit of unpredictability would have done some wonder.Image

Table No 21 the Game of Truth AND Dare

table-no-21Till now I’m not sure what is the significance associated to this name or number in movie. Movie being entirely shot in Fiji is a thriller is based on a reality game show sails into the back of a nice script(iam glad it has a script ) and powerful performances featuring. It is good too see Rajeev Khandelwal on the other side /receiving end of Sach Ka Samna kind of a game where every lie is going to be expensive. “You Lie You Die”

Although the concept of game show matter of life and death etc is not a unique one but still the movie is captivating in most of its senses. Stylish and packed with good prices, there are some exceptional visible in what is essentially a decent attempt to bring a “different” kind of film with the audience.

This movie is not truth or dare game show its TRUTH AND DARE without a vintage bottle of champagne. The characters portray a cute couple with 10 years of relationship. The lead seems to be a decent and loving and nothing to hide type of person so he is quite confidant to play the game. But it turns out they have to confront their worst phobias deal with demons of the past, rediscover themselves the hard way and have their love and endurance tested to snapping point as the game turns more violent and hazardous with each successive question.

Thriller Movie Review on Buddhu Box

Thriller Movie Review on Buddhu Box

Though there are few twists and turns which seem a little predictable but then the last 20 minutes of the movie are show stealer and brings in a different concept and message in its own. You feel the shades of character and perspective from where you watch and entire meaning of it changes. We all are grey. Which makes this movie definitely a worth watching movie.

Though at times I felt it is bit dragged and doesn’t makes you completely engross in the movie but I still like the editing of movie. Table No. 21 is a daring and sexy movie that manages to be different and is almost the price of the ticket. Provides a serious message that separate goodbye! Apart from the standard one “there are no free lunches in this world” it’s a trade off. 😉

Is “The Dirty Picture” Really Dirty??

Before watching this movie I had thought that Why  nasruddin shah has to look so creepy but now I relize that he was supposed to look that way becoz the life of a male actor in the industry is far more than his female counterpart. He gracefully blends into the background as the ‘Hero’ takes Centre stage. In Industry the male lead  always gets an opportunity to work with girls who have grown up watching their movies in childhood no offences to Amitabh ,Sharukh ,salman ,rajnikant ,vijaykant ,dileep kumar and the list goes on and on you pick the name from any era.

Silk Smitha

The movie is inspired by the life of the late south Indian actress Silk Smitha. Intermittently, real life is far more appealing and compelling than fiction. And a biopic — which attempts to recount a person’s life story or at least the most historically momentous years of his/her life — is most demanding for not just the storyteller/s, but also the actors who bracket together with those films. This is the rise and fall story of a nonentity who turns the biggest sex-symbol in cinema, loosely modeled on the lines of real-life temptresses of the 80s like Silk Smitha and Disco Shanti. Reshma (Vidya Balan) might not have admirable acting abilities but sure knows how to use her sexual charm to her benefit – both onscreen and offscreen. That gives her an easy entry into the cine-world and soon she starts dominating film posters and ruling hearts of her fans.

One relief after a good long to time span I found one movie which was women centric and doing justice  to the topic . Has all masala to make a movie hit with a good story line which makes people draw to theatres else I have rarely seen movies on shoulder of women stay in box office for long .. so kudos to the team.(7 khoon maaf was the last one but priyanka was unable to crack it at box office)

Vidya Balan disappears, she lives, breathes and executes the character it’s Silk that emerges on screen. And though the movie PR machinery may have given one the impression of this film being one of sex and sleaze, it is not. In fact, this subject has been packaged in a sublime manner giving it the respect it deserves and making us wonder what really lies behind the glamour and gloss. It’s not right to pass judgment because you don’t know what the other person is going through, or the circumstances that has brought her to the place she is. How ever we can see the other side of glam industry of which only glimpses will be there in movies.Everyone has a choice, right. But we all make mistakes. And this film is not about glorifying a mistake. Rather, it addresses the plight of an upcoming actress.Last few lines say most of the unsaid part in the movie and seem impact full

But the same people, who make a star out of her, pull her down subsequently. Superstar Suryakant (Naseeruddin Shah) sees this woman as a potential threat to his stardom and decides to clip her wings. Even Ramakant (Tusshar Kapoor), who loves her, ditches her for her indulgence in substance abuse. On the contrary, filmmaker Abraham (Emraan Hashmi), the man who hated her the most, gets attracted towards her.

Rajat Luthra is the one set for punch lines

A film producer, desperately seeking a hit, sees a starlet in the small time but sexy and extremely ambitious girl Reshma. He immediately rechristens her as Silk. She instantaneously renames him askeeda (worm) justifying that keede hi toh banate hain silk (worms produce silk). That smart and symbolic line pretty much sums up the bigger picture behind the dirty picture. The supposedly decent and respectable society is the one that makes a Silk out of Reshma and sex-symbol out of Silk.

Reading between the lines ( some facts movie reviles )

For the character of SILK I will say she was the women who took strong decisions in her life , who as a women has the capability to inspire people around her , who had all right to feel jealous and Even her suside was posed as a part of her strong character  she didn’t wanted to bend for help ,she didn’t asked for help to the director (Imran Hashmi) Yes she did her own set of mistakes but she is not shown guilty of her decisions as they were her own.Comparison b/w priyanka of Fashion and Vidhya of DP will be sheer injustice to both characters . And at some place in mind I feel great that this thought is a product of Ekta Kappor another strong woman in the industry who has the nerves of the common man in India.

~ This movie reminded me of Abrahim Linkon’s saying where he says that your critiques know you the best because they know you far better than the people who praise you.  It can be seen clearly in the movie in form of critique writer “Anju Mahendru ” and director “Imran Hashmi” as they were the people who knew her happiness and sorrows the best.~

Which Equaly sinks in with Kabeer Doha

“Nindak neare rakhiye angan kuti chhaway!

Bin pani sabun bina NIRMAL kare subhay!!”

The super infectious retro beats of Ooh la la replete with all the jhatkas, matkas, jhankaar beats, overzealous panting and Bappi Lahiri-Shreya Ghosal’s enthusiastic delivery instantly transports you to those outlandish times when Jeetendra and Sridevi /Jaya Pradha danced atop giant-sized drums while Holi colours and fifty odd dancers exploded all over the screen. And for once the deliberately corny lines ‘Chua jo tune to, dil ne maari ceeti. Dede in gaalon pe ek pappi meethi, meethi,’ makes perfect sense. 😀 SHreya Ghoshal rocks 🙂

Other songs songs are also ok .

In all The Dirty Picture aims to recreate the era of flesh-obsession in Indian films during the 1980s well I will say the director has practiced and corrected his mistakes from his last movie once upon a time in Mumbai. And Ekta has left no stone unturned in drawing the audiences in theatre used her telesoaps at fullest for this ..well that’s Ekta 😀

What makes me think that this movie has made an impact on audiences in theatre as I found people who were humming the song day in day out “o la la “ now say this seems a sad song now

For sure I believe vidhya balan is going to bang at least best actress awards on critics at least and one will be going for best one liners dialogs to the other ‘hero’ of the film THE dialogue writer Rajat Arora some bold some meaningful and some crazy ones but all can be picked fast 😉 But this doesnt means that this is a family watch movie . This is an Adult watch movie but has a well written script in it.

THE DIRTY PICTURE is in line for a flood of awards. Vidya Balan will walk away with all possible trophies! Now a stolen line 😉 “Yeh ladki aag lagaegi!
